Brutalist Style Engine Valve Wall Hanging Art
A local engine shop was nice enough to allow me to dumpster dive for a short time. And this is the result!
I’ve always like Brutalist art and architecture… this is my first attempt at creating some of my own.
This is made from engine valves. The shop is a ‘race’ shop, and they don’t rebuild just any old engines. The valves vary quite a bit in size, signs of use (amount of carbon build up) as well as how they cleaned up.
I used a wire wheel on a bench grinder to clean off as much of the carbon as I could.
I used a MIG welder to weld the valves together. Then I covered those welds with Bronze just like the vintage Brutalist artists.
It measures about 19″ x 24″. I drilled some holes in some of the valves to use as mounting holes. It can be mounted vertically or horizontally (or any angle you desire!). Mounting screws are not included. It weighs around 9 lbs, and should be mounted securely to the wall.
A crate will have to be built around this piece, and this is reflected in the cost of shipping.
